Certain web sites don't load at all. Why?

Ok so YouTube, Google, Game Spot, Steam don't load. At all. On any browser - IE, Mozilla, Chrome... Avant... It's not my router because the other computers at home are fine. I've scanned countless times for addware, mallware, viruses. Firewall is off. I haven't blacklisted a site in my life. I can load international and sites from my home country with no problem. And the strange thing is it is not constant - it happens for 2 days then it's fine for 3 more.
The only way I got them to work was by using Hotspot Shield which somehow gives me "web privacy". And a lot of adds on every site I visit and popping windows but whatever. The thing is it's activated from a site and since today I can't reach that site...
I'm running out of ideas so I'm asking you guys for some.

You got a hosts file and or blocking the java script?
If not the hosts file or java script then my guess it's your firewall.

You might have to change the settings from obtain dns servers automatically to specific ones that your isp can give you. (In tcp/ip settings in your internet connection). This worked for me. Hopefully it can work for someone else. Also, google dhcp and you router for additional resources.
