Jerry Wexler, last of the visionaries?
With the recent death of Atlantic Records' Jerry Wexler-who coined the term Rhythm & Blues-Berry Gordy/Motown and Jim Stewart/Stax are the only remaining record company giants I know of. Do you think theree is/will there be anyone to fill their shoes?
Fonzie- thanks for your answer. I must admit that getting one response is pretty disappointing. I browse R & P regularly and see many complaints about all the silly questions, yet no-one else answers this?
Oh man, I agree big time. I can't think of ANYone filling shoes like his in the 2008 music scene.
Seems guys like him have been replaced by celeb' judges on bad tv shows.

Into the Wild $3.34 A superb cast and an even-handed treatment of a true story buoy Into the Wild, Sean Penn's screen adaptation of Jon Krakauer's bestselling book. Emile Hirsch stars as Christopher McCandless, scion of a prosperous but troubled family who, after graduating from Atlanta's Emory University in the early 1990s, decides to chuck it all and become a self-styled "aesthetic voyager" in search of "ultimate f... |

Harvey $6.09 It's always a small surprise to revisit this movie and realize what a subtly dark performance James Stewart gives as an alcoholic who claims he keeps company with a six-foot-tall, invisible rabbit. As Elwood P. Dowd, the actor emits a faint whiff of decay and spirits, yet Stewart also embraces Dowd's romanticism and grace with splendid ease. Based on a hit play and directed by Henry Koster, the fi... |

National Treasure (Widescreen Edition) $2.99 Like a Hardy Boys mystery on steroids, National Treasure offers popcorn thrills and enough boyish charm to overcome its rampant silliness. Although it was roundly criticized as a poor man's rip-off of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Da Vinci Code, it's entertaining on its own ludicrous terms, and Nicolas Cage proves once again that one actor's infectious enthusiasm can compensate for a multitude o... |
